Μήδεια: Γυναίκες στην Αρχαία Ελλάδα

Μέσα στο πλαίσιο της παρουσίασης από το Εθνικό Θέατρο της Αγγλίας της αρχαίας τραγωδίας του Ευριπίδη «Μήδεια», κατά τον Αύγουστο και Σεπτέμβριο 2014, θα πραγματοποιηθεί την Δευτέρα 1^η Σεπτεμβρίου τ.έ. στις 6.00 μ.μ. στο National Theatre (Upper Ground, South Bank, London SE1 9PX) μια ενδιαφέρουσα εκδήλωση, στην οποία η ιστορικός Bettany Hughes και ο θεατρολόγος Oliver Taplin θα συζητήσουν για τη θέση των γυναικών στη θρησκεία και την απεικόνισή τους ως επικίνδυνες και τραγικές φιγούρες.

Bettany Hughes is an historian, broadcaster and author whose books include Helen of Troy and The Hemlock Cup. She has written and presented many documentary films and series for TV and radio including The Ideas That Make Us, Divine Women, and Athens: The Truth of Democracy, and co-presents Britain’s Secret Treasures.

Oliver Taplin was Professor of Classical Languages and Literature at the University of Oxford before his retirement. A co-founder of the Archive of Performances of Greek and Roman Drama (apgrd.ox.ac.uk), he has acted as a theatre consultant for the National and RSC, and his books include Greek Tragedy in Action.
