Το κλασικό έργο του Σοφοκλή παρουσιάζεται αυτές τις ημέρες στο μοναδικό Ελληνικό Θέατρο του Λονδίνου, το γνωστό Θέατρο Τέχνης (Theatro Technis, 26 Crowndale Road, NW1 1TT).
Το θεατρικό αυτό έργο είναι παραγωγή του Θεάτρου Τέχνης, σε σκηνοθεσία του Γιώργου Ευγενίου και παρουσιάζεται στην αγγλική, σε μετάφραση του Don Taylor, μέχρι τις 26 Φεβρουαρίου. Οι παραστάσεις αρχίζουν στις 7.30 μ.μ., εκτός από τις Κυριακές που αρχίζουν στις 3 μ.μ. τα εισιτήρια κοστίζουν: £10 / £8.
Μερικοί από τους ηθοποιούς είναι: Amos Miskelis, Jackie Skarvellis, Roger Sansom, Gencoo Ashizawa, Bernard Lawrence, Robert Allwood, Manos Koutsis, Kel Lagaj, Michael Nghiem, Diana Stuart. Η Εύη Σταματίου είναι βοηθός σκηνοθέτη και language consultant.
Σύμφωνα με το διαφημιστικό του έργου «The play is about revealing the potential horrors beneath the surface-beauty of life, as of art, illusion and reality. It is also a meta-tragedy, a tragedy about tragedy. The proportional relationships in tragedy, however, differ between the ancient and the modern writer. Whereas Shakespeare and Pirandello use the awareness of illusion to explore theatricality, Sophocles uses theatricality to explore the moral, religious and metaphysical questions, raised by the suffering of Oedipus».
